Production Blog- Editing Research

Image
Hey guys! Today we’re gonna talk about the research I did for my editing process. I used several resources so that I could properly edit my video. Although, I will preface by saying that I am extremely disadvantaged in my technological abilities. Because of this, one problem that I faced was many of my research sources not being in depth enough for how inexperienced I am. But there were a few resources who really helped me step up my editing game!! One of the most helpful was WikiHow. I read an article of theirs which explained it in very layman terms along with pictures and in a step-by-step manner so that I could easily process the information given to me. Because I am a visual learner, TikToks also heavily aided me. Although they were in a very short time and did not go in depth as to how to go about the editing process. Despite this, I received many small helpful tips which improved my editing skills in small ways. Some of these included changing my IPhone camera setting to HD to

Production Blog- Shooting

Hey guys!! Today we’re gonna talk my filming experience. Per my last blog, we decided to film in a park.  There were not many issues with out location. A minor issue was the amount of other people walking by. This caused us to pause production until the area is clear. Although a minor inconvenience, this did significantly increase the time taken to film our video. Another issue we faced was sound problems. Sometimes we could not hear the music loud enough to sing along. this caused many retakes. A small problem we faced was with our makeup. For our “male”  actor, we had to fake a beard and mustache. Due to the warm weather, we had issues with the makeup smudging and melting, ruining the illusion. One benefit we did have from our location was how long it was. Since it was designed to stroll in, it made it easier to film. Many of our scenes involve pacing or strolling, so this was an advantage. Another advantage was the weather. It was warm and pleasant. This was not only pleasant for u

Hey Guys! Today we’re gonna be talking about the research I conducted for my actual filming process. The main resource I used for my research was Youtube. I learned many tips which will help me film more effectively. One useful tip was for smoother zooming in. They brought the actual phone closer to the actors rather than using the zoom in feature on their phone. Another alternative is to film regularly, then zoom in on the editing app.

Production Blog- Trouble shooting

Hey guys!! Today we’re gonna talk about some last minute changes and updates with my music video. First, my costume. I have one or two costumes for the shoot that I plan on wearing. The first is a pink dress and the second is a red skirt. I purposely chose this because my plan was to create a valentine’s day sort of aesthetic. One problem I had while finalizing my plan is the actors. I could not find any male actors which could act in my film. As an alternative, I made a last minute decision to get one of my female actors to act as a male. We plan on creating this illusion through costume. We will put her in a hoodie and hat to cover her hair and body. Additionally, we will use makeup to enhance her masculine features. The last problem we faced was location. My initial idea was to film at a beach. The largest issue with this was transportation to and from the location. My backup plan was to film at the University of Florida campus. This was also not possible due to time restrictions.

Hey guys!! Today we’re going to be talking about some troubles I faced before shooting. My biggest problem was finding actors. I had trouble finding actors in general, but especially male actors. I could not think of anyone who I am comfortable enough with to shoot a music video with. More importantly, a male actor who was willing to do it. I am still attempting to find a male, but my backup plan is to use a female actor dressed as a male. Also, it is difficult to find actors who are willing to give up their time for the music video. Another issue was location. I decided not to shoot on campus due to technical logistics. Although it wasn’t what I had in mind, the park next to my school would be my best bet. Not only is it close to my school, but any actors who go to my school could easily come after. My largest downside is that the park is quite small and not very aesthetically pleasing. Also, it just wasn’t the image that I had in mind. My second backup plan was to shoot at a beach.

Story Board!!

Hey Guys!, Today I will be sharing my storyboard. This will explain what my music video will entail, narratively speaking. Yes, I know that my artistic quality may not be the most intricate, but hopefully it effectively explains my vision for the shoot. Also keep in mind that these scenes were heavily influenced by the original music video along with other music videos for love songs. My introduction for my shoot will be a gum heart which opens up to the title in a stop animation style. My next shoot will be a wide shot of me lip syncing the beginning lyrics. The next scene cuts to her pining over a guy, then pans out to the guy holding hands with a girl. I then become sad and the scene cuts to a zoom in of me lip syncing the next lyrics. The next scene is at my home with my mother lecturing me, until she leaves me and I am daydreaming about the boy. The next scene is her lip syncing again. After that, she chases after the boy, convincing her to choose him. The next scene cuts to her

Planning for my Music Video

Image
Hey Guys!! Welcome back to my blog. Today, we will be discussing the planning for my music video. My final decision is to do the Lovefool by the Cardigans, with a storyline which shows a young lady (me) pining over a boy she is in love with. For my introduction, I am taking inspiration from Olivia Rodrigo’s lyric videos. I think that using origami hearts made of gum wrappers would be a good visual representation of teenage love. I would like to have an assortment of them to create a sort of collage, then use a series of pictures to create a stop animation of the middle heart unfolding into the title of the song. I will also be using actors to emphasize my storyline. I want one male actor to act like the boy I am in love with, and perhaps one female to act as the “other woman”. I would also like a couple more female singers to act as my backup singers, to emphasize the lovey dovey “dream girls” tone I am attempting to create. I want my outfit to be a slightly tacky valentine’s day dres

Research for my Music Video

Image
Hey Guys!! Today I will be discussing some music videos which are similar to what I would like to do for mine. As I said in my previous blog, I would like to do a pop song with a rom com type of feel, and I tried to keep this in mind when researching music videos.  Lovefool by The Cardigan This music video follows the storyline of a young woman pining after a man. It includes many scenes of her gazing at him while the camera zooms in on a ditch angle, something that definitely adds to the story and that I plan on reacreating.  Wusyaname by Tyler the Creator  This music video also includes a man pining after someone, except a bit more literal. In the video, he follows this girl around, attempting to convince her to give him a chance, while she seems uninterested and tries to walk away.  Lacy by Olivia Rodrigo  This video is a lyric video which writes out the lyrics ion a paper surrounded by cute stickers. Although there is no storyline, the visual effects of this video are interesting

Hey Guys! Today I’m going to tell you some more about my music video. I decided to work alone for this project. My main reason for this is because I have a vision. As soon as I decided to begin this project, I knew exactly what song I wanted to do and the storyline I wanted to follow with my video. Most importantly, I was not open to compromise. Now the song reveal (drumroll, please!!!). Love fool by The Cardigans. For one, this is my favorite song ever since the day I could hear. I remember blasting this song in the car with my mom for most of my childhood. Also, this is THE definition of a rom-com song. The dreamy, yet upbeat pop tempo. The soft feminine voice. And the lyrics which perfectly mirror the mind of a teenage girl in love. The song also follows the story from the perspective of a woman faced with the age old dilema- unrequited love. This is a theme that I want to mirror in the storyline of my music video. I will lip sync to the song while I play the role of a women in lov

Introduction to the Music Video

Image
Hey Guys welcome back to my blog! Today we are going to be working on a brand new project! I had the idea to create a music video. But before we get into the details, let me tell you about me. My name is Alex Rodriguez (Yes, after the famous baseball player). Some fun facts about me! I am a vegan and have been for three years. I have three pets. My cat, Callie, my bird, Yoshi, and my tortoise, Frankie. I have an older sister, Karina. I love cooking, picking out my outfit, and doing my makeup. If I’m not doing schoolwork, I’m definitely doing one of those three. I am a junior in high school. My favorite food is tofu, because of its versatility. I’m a secret romantic, and I LOVE 2000’s rom-com movies. Think 10 things I Hate About You, Clueless, and Mean Girls. One of my favorite things about rom-coms, aside from the mandatory grand gestures of course, is the soundtrack. This is one of my main inspirations behind creating my music video. But I don’t want to give it all away just yet. So
