Research for my Music Video
Hey Guys!! Today I will be discussing some music videos which are similar to what I would like to do for mine. As I said in my previous blog, I would like to do a pop song with a rom com type of feel, and I tried to keep this in mind when researching music videos.
Lovefool by The Cardigan
This music video follows the storyline of a young woman pining after a man. It includes many scenes of her gazing at him while the camera zooms in on a ditch angle, something that definitely adds to the story and that I plan on reacreating.
Wusyaname by Tyler the Creator
This music video also includes a man pining after someone, except a bit more literal. In the video, he follows this girl around, attempting to convince her to give him a chance, while she seems uninterested and tries to walk away.
Lacy by Olivia Rodrigo
This video is a lyric video which writes out the lyrics ion a paper surrounded by cute stickers. Although there is no storyline, the visual effects of this video are interesting and I want to incorporate it in my introduction of my music video.
Get him back! by Olivia Rodrigo
This music video has a storyline of a girl contemplating getting back with her ex boyfriend. She has multiples of herself throughout the video to represent the variety of perspectives and feelings towards the situation. The camera work is also very fast paced, with quick zoom ins and angle changes.
From the Start by Laufey
This music video also has the storyline of a girl in love with a man. This music video has no other actors besides the artists, which I like because it will make it easier to edit. But, this does not make it boring. Laufey uses very expressive faces as well as obvious body language, almost signing out the lyrics. The color scheme is aesthetic, as she walks around many rooms with only primary colors in the video. As for the camera work, it basically follows her as she is pacing around wondering what to do
After conducting my research, I decided that I want to make my music video using a storyline and camera work that is a combination of From the Start and Lovefool, with an introduction that is similar to the Lacy lyric video.
