Wardrobe!! (Production Blog)

Image
Hey Guys! By this point, we are still struggling with finding a proper time to meet and film. But it also felt unproductive to not discuss and tackle the factors which were feasible. One of these was fashion. Most of the wardrobe was quite obvious. The entire cast will be playing as ourselves, not special characters. Although we will have different names, our "acting" will not vary from our natural mannerisms. So, the same will apply to our fashion. Because of this, we will be wearing our typical clothing. It also works out great that we live in the beachy, tropical climate of Florida. All our daily wear already fits the aesthetic of a typical road trip. So Milana, and Sasha, and I decided to wear a typical cute and comfortable outfit which we would normally wear on a vacation. However, Sarah's wardrobe had a bit of complexity to it. Because her character will be the victim, we decided on adding little clues to convey this. She is doing this by dressing out in order to em...

Music!!- Production Blog

Image
Hey Guys!! Today were gonna be talking about our process for choosing the music for our film.  We decided pretty unanimously not to attempt to ask permission to use copyrighted music. It would be tedious and far too risky, considering all the timing problems we have been having. So we will be using instrumental music as background music for the video. Picking out the genre was easy. Our goal was something fun, yet unsettling, so our audience can feel that something bad is will happen. Country music was an immediate no. Despite its subjective  obnoxiousness, it upbeat tone would go with the horror theme. A pop song would be far too happy, unless it transitioned into a creepier song. But one which is entirely eerie would fit a more Sci-Fi theme. Picking out the specific music was much harder. There were so many great songs brought up in discussion, yet each path eventually led to a path of copyright issues. But eventually, we found the perfect track. It was called Celtic,...

Final Project- Planning Problems

Image
Hey Guys!! Welcome Back! Today, were going to talk about some issues which occurred while our group was discussing when we were going to plan. In our initial discussion, we realized that all of us had busy schedules which conflicted. Whether it be debate, sports, or family, it was extremely difficult to coordinate a time to film. After deciding that weekends were a non-negotiable due to prior commitments, we agreed on meeting up after school. Since one member had practice every day after school other than Fridays, it was obvious that Friday afternoons would be our only option. In order to secure enough time for editing, cutting and other post-filming processes, our goal was to film before the end of February. March would be saved for finishing touches in order to ensure that our finished product would be clean with no signs of rushing. Although it is reassuring that we already planned out all the details in our previous blogs, it is quite unsettling to consider any unexpected factors w...

Other Information

Image
Below are the details of our location, participants, health and schedule in regards to filming. Location:  The first location we will be filming in is someone's house. Since we need somewhere to park the car we will be using later, we will film this bit at Alexandra's house. We decided on this location by first discussing the distances all of our group members live from the school. Three out of four of us live far from the school but all in opposite directions. Alexandra, who lives closest to the school, had the primary location for filming. After checking that she would be able to film at her house and is comfortable with this, we decided on this location.  The next location we will be filming at is a gas station near Alexandra's house. Since we will be in areas she is familiar with, she will show us the nearest gas station to her house.  The final location we will need to film in is a park. To give the film an adventurous road trip feeling, we need nature to surr...

Title Design

Image
Font/ Color- Bubbly girly, vintage vibe with a dark color and a shadow Our reasoning for this unique choice is that we want the audience to come along with us. They should truly believe that the premise of the movie is a friend group going on a fun trip. Yet to still match the fact that it is a thriller movie, we want subtle clues that hint at an ominous tone.  Size-We will have the main title take up the most space, roles be medium sized, and names/ others be small. We want the size of our title to represent its importance. If all the titles are the same, nothing will have emphasis. The main title of our movie will obviously be the largest because it is the most important. The rest of the credits will be divided into medium sized with small under it. For example, our role will be medium and our name under it will be smaller.  Working title- The Bucket List Transition- In order to continue the trend of adding subtle onimosity, we want the title to slowly fade in and out...
